Abe Lincoln the vampire killer, ludicrous?? Well with all these superhero movies making tons of money, why not take a President, LOL, and give him skills and super strength.
How this book became a bestseller is beyond my small meager mind but I knew that going to see this movie would provide plenty of laughs for me, which it did.
The story is about how Abraham Lincoln discovers that vampires are planning to take over the United States. He makes it his mission to eliminate them.
The movie is long and most of the limited action in the movie does not take place until the last hour. The entire movie is pretty much like a cartoon. Abe Lincoln, played by Benjamin Walker, waits until he’s in his 50’s to go after his nemesis with the same strength and skill he had in his early years?!
His wife Mary, who is played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, is way too pretty and miscast to play Lincoln’s wife who historically was unattractive (remember the Gieco commercial)
Mary also has skills at killing vampires and you will be laughing with tears when you get to the part when she confronts a female vampire.
Anthony Mackie, who seems like he will take any acting job, is Abe’s childhood friend and is wasted in this movie.
Where did I lose it in this movie?
- When Abe Lincoln mentions his entire name various times throughout the movie.
- When I had to count how many times I saw true 3D effects (not many).
- When Harriet Tubman makes a cameo appearance??
Verdict:
Find your laughs elsewhere because this movie is rubbish.
