Inception

"That movie was confusing" is what I heard from a teenager leaving the theater after the show ended, so I didn't feel bad because I was a little lost. I also heard that it was one of the most original movies so far this year. This I do agree with however I had a splitting headache from the pounding Hans Zimmer soundtrack, which was awesome, but too loud in the Imax theater I saw the movie in.
The story is about a highly skilled thief, Leonard DiCaprio, who is given a final chance at redemption which involves executing his toughest job to date, planting an idea in a target's mind.
Leo DiCaprio is the man and always does a great job in making you believe in his characters. He is now well skilled at playing characters that are damaged but want to do well (Revolutionary Rd, Shutter Island, etc.). In fact this movie reminded me somewhat of Shutter Island.
Christopher Nolan is now the top dog director in Hollywood and I look forward to his movies with their visual effects and stunning cinematography.
This is not a lighthearted popcorn movie and you will have to pay attention otherwise you will get lost in the layers of plot. At one point in the movie a character asks "Wait, who's subconscious are we entering now?"
The cool thing is that you will be trying to figure out what is taking place and how it will end.

Verdict: Excellent movie. Oscar winner Marion Cotillard is haunting as Leo's wife. I will be going to see it again. Another dream movie that is a favorite of mine but that was not well received was 1999's In Dreams with Robert Downey Jr. and Annette Bening. Check it out after you see Inception. It's not as good but it's worth a look.
